We were honoured to receive a donation for £6,000 for our library from the estate of the school’s first headteacher, Mr Jeffrey Blagg. Mr Blagg became headteacher of Attleborough High from when it first opened its doors in 1965 and he led the school over many successful years and became well known and respected in the community. A few years ago Mr Blagg was invited back for our Annual Presentation Evening where he was warmly welcomed by current Principal Mr Neil McShane to participate in the celebrations acknowledging our students’ achievement. Everyone who was present greatly enjoyed meeting Mr Blagg and were taken by his kindness, intelligence and gentle humour.
In 2017, sadly Mr Blagg passed away; during our 50th Anniversary celebrations during that year, a ceremony was held to rename the library ‘The Jeffrey Blagg Library’ in honour of his dedication and leadership. Throughout the occasion he was fondly remembered by staff and former students who had been present during his years as headteacher.
This year we received the wonderful news that Mr Blagg had bequeathed the academy the £6,000 to ensure that his vision from the school’s inception of a sustainable well-resourced library continued into the future, and we were delighted to welcome Jeffrey Blagg’s son Julian and his wife to the academy to receive the donation.
