AAN Students Participate in the Regional Finals of ESU-Churchill Public Speaking Competiton for Schools
After school on February 8th an intrepid team of Year 11’s accompanied by, Esther Collier, Ms Taylor, Mrs Whittaker and Mrs Phoenix, journeyed in the school minibus to Wymondham High School, host of the finals. Our team comprising of Rebecca Bush, Speaker, Julia Jopkievicz, Chair and Deivids Bukovskis, Questioner performed extremely competently and were praised by the organisers for their presentation skills and in Rebecca’s case, for learning her speech off by heart.
In fact, this was the first time AAN had participated in this competition and despite being nervous, they represented our school magnificently. All the teachers accompanying the team were extremely proud of their commitment to the competition and extremely pleased that the students wish to continue with their public speaking careers in other competitions.
The winners of this Norwich and Norfolk final were The Norwich School who will go forward to the regional finals to be held on 18th March at Magdalene College, Cambridge.
Next year Ms Taylor hopes that students from the current Year 8s and 9s will wish to take part in this very prestigious competition. Members of this year’s team are planning to assist her and impart the knowledge and experience they have gained.
