Student FAQs

I forgot my Attleborough Academy Student Handbook/Planner?

Tell your Form Tutor and collect a Student Handbook/Planner sheet from Student Reception. You are expected to have your Student Handbook/Planner with you at all times! Replacement planners cost £1.50 at Student Reception.

I lose an item of clothing?

It is your responsibility to look for the missing item. Check with Student Reception then go to Lost Property in the Bridge Centre. All items should have your name in them. It is advisable to use a locker.

I am absent?

Your parents or carers need to telephone the Student Absence Line (01953 450340) before 08.30. When you return to the Academy, your parents or carers must write a letter or sign a note in your Student Handbook/Planner explaining the reason for your absence. This must be shown to your Form Tutor on the day you return to the Academy. Aim for 100% attendance.

If I am in incorrect uniform?

You must register with your Form Tutor in the morning. If you are in incorrect uniform, you will be sent to the Bridge Centre where you will be issues with a Uniform Pass if appropriate. You will receive a ‘U’ Symbol unless you have a note from your parent or carer.

I’m being bullied or picked on?

If you feel that you are being bullied, you must tell your Form Tutor or SAFE Worker straight away. You can also find more advice in the Academy’s Anti-Bullying Policy (Page 11).

I have not done my homework?

Tell your subject teacher straight away – do not wait to be asked. There may be consequences.

I am having problems?

Either see your Form Tutor or a SAFE Tutor or any member of staff you feel you can talk to. You can also see any Prefect. There will be one in your form. You can identify them by their Prefects tie.

I lose a book that I have borrowed from the Academy Library?

Go to see the Librarian as soon as you realise that it is missing. It is far better to tell her straight away than to do nothing and hope that she will never know.

I miss my bus home or to the Academy?

If you miss your bus in the morning (make sure it has really gone and not just running late), go straight home and see if a member of your family can bring you to the Academy. It is your responsibility to get to the Academy. Phone the Academy to explain what has happened. If you miss morning registration, be sure to go to the Student Reception and ask to me marked present. If you miss the bus home, go to the Academy office.
